5 Signs to Look For ---

When to Remove a Tree

While strong, healthy trees are an asset that can increase property values and the enjoyment of your outdoor spaces, there are times when it's necessary to cut down one or more trees to improve the overall safety, health, and appearance of your property.

It's Crowding Surrounding Trees

Tree crowding can stunt growth and promote the spread of rot and disease in otherwise healthy trees. By removing some of the trees in your yard, you’ll allow the remaining trees to flourish and thrive.

Hitting Your Home

Tree removal can do wonders for your home, inside and out. Brighten up your home during the day with increased sun exposure, which can also help keep your home warmer during winter months. Overhanging trees can clog your gutters and trap moisture on your roof and siding, leading to mold and mildew, and give small animals and other pests easy access to your attic space.

The Tree Is Dead, Damaged, or Diseased

A dead tree is not only an eyesore, but it's also unstable and prone to falling. Diseased trees can quickly spread pathogens to other trees and plants in your yard if not treated promptly or, if necessary, removed entirely. Split, cracked, and broken branches can fall unexpectedly, posing a safety hazard to your family and property.

Damaged by a Storm

Heavy winds, lightning strikes, and even winter weather can lead to damaged or fallen trees. If the tree is too close to your house, the right storm can badly damage the structure of your home. Remove large branches and fallen trees quickly so you can start repairs to your home and yard and get things back to normal.

Casting Too Much Shade

A shady lawn is great to have, but too much shade can stifle grass growth and trap moisture. If you’re ready to trade your muddy, patchy lawn for one that’s lush and green, removing trees can help.

Tree removal might not be the only option! If you’re interested in saving your tree, pruning might be possible to protect its health and help it grow back stronger than ever.

Stump Grinding---

What about the stump?

Once a tree is removed, you will be left with a stump. Not only are stumps unsightly, but they can:

  • Pose a tripping hazard
  • Invite infestations of termites and carpenter ants
  • Use up valuable real estate you could be using for other plants and landscape features
  • Spread disease to other trees

In addition to tree removal, we can also get rid of the stump.

How We Remove Trees

If there’s enough space, we can simply fell the tree and cut it into sections on the ground.

Usually, a tree has to be removed in segments, especially if it’s close to your house, power lines, or septic tanks. We may cut the tree into sections starting from the top and lower the pieces safely to the ground using ropes and pulleys to minimize damage to your yard.

No matter what’s required, we have the training and the equipment needed to get the job done.

Once the tree is removed, there will be a tree stump of about 6” remaining. We also provide stump grinding services to remove stumps completely.

What Godspeed Tree Service Customers Say About Our Tree Removal Service ---

Impressive, Integrity, Quality

Godspeed took down a huge dying maple tree that had been badly damaged in a storm, and they also pruned 2 other very large trees on my property. This was probably the best experience I’ve had with any kind of contractor, and I’ve worked with a lot.

100% would recommend! Bobby and his team took down a massive tree in my front yard, removed the stump, and cleaned up the area.

Honestly blown away by the work they were able to accomplish and their level of professionalism.

J. Brown

Godspeed gave me a quote for a fair price, returned calls in a timely manner, came sooner than they had indicated, and then did a great job removing the trees, limbs, stumps and roots and graded the rear of my backyard. From coming to give me a quote to completion of the work, I am very pleased with their service and give them my highest recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tree removal is one of the most common types of tree service in the Winston-Salem area. It's also one of the most involved services. Every tree is different, and that means different methods and equipment.

If you're thinking about a tree removed, you probably have some questions about the timing, process, and more.

We always encourage our customers to learn what they can about proper tree removal techniques before they hire a tree service company.

To help you understand the basics of tree removal, we've put together answers to the questions we're most often asked. But if you have a different question, just give us a call!

No. Every situation is different, so until we’ve seen the tree(s) and the location where the work will be done, we can’t give you a quote for the work. Price is affected by things like the species, size, and health of the tree; where it’s growing; what’s around it, such as buildings, overhead wires, and traffic; whether or not it can be reached with heavy equipment; and much more.

If your tree is unstable and runs the risk of falling, call us right away. In non-emergency cases, leafless branches are lighter and less risky to remove. However, Godspeed Tree Services can cut down trees regardless of the season.

Yes, Godspeed Tree Service is fully insured with insurance that is specific to tree care work. Please call the office at 336-399-8348 for proof of insurance.

Tree work is inherently dangerous, both for the workers and the property on which the work is done. Without the proper insurance (this is very different from insurance for "landscaping") and workers' comp, you are on the hook in the unfortunate event that something goes wrong.

Please, always check the insurance credentials of someone you're considering hiring to do tree work on your property.

A Certified Arborist is a tree care expert who has a minimum of three years of experience in the tree care profession and has passed an in-depth exam developed by an international panel of arboriculture experts. The exam extensively covers every aspect of tree care and requires that the tree care professional has an acceptable level of knowledge in all areas of arboriculture.

This means you receive the best possible tree care from a Certified Arborist. We have the knowledge, training, and experience to recognize and treat any tree health issues, we practice arboriculture according to best practices and safety standards, and we love working with trees.

After a removal we can haul away, chip, or leave the wood. We do not currently provide firewood service.

Godspeed Tree Service does not offer firewood service at this time.
